Working with mutual aid networks and community-driven projects in Cuba, I create cultural events that both spotlight and raise funds in solidarity with underserved Cuban communities.

Thanks to the support of family and friends in Cuba and abroad, we’re able to navigate economic sanctions and corruption, ensuring that every donation reaches recipients directly.

Trans Cuban Film Night

A film night featuring 3 short films by contemporary queer Cuban filmmakers (including two trans Cuban directors), centered on stories about trans Cubans. Featured in Pride London Events 2024.
In collaboration with & support of Translúcidos, a grassroots mutual aid network run by and for trans men in Cuba. Translúcidos was founded by activist Merle Ramírez.
Mentoras Creativas

I was selected as a Mentor for Mentoras Creativas, working alongside a group of industry leaders committed to providing training, support and mentorship to ambitious women looking to succeed in early stages of their creative careers in Cuba.
Mentoras Creativas is a social enterprise founded by Gabriela Román González. It promotes the leadership and empowerment of women in the creative industries.
CONTEMPORARY CUBAN CULTURE X PINAR

A day of Contemporary Cuban Culture at Peckham Levels featuring art, books, live music, and dance. Featuring artists from the UK-based Cuban community, including Eliane Correa, Mario Gonzalez de la Nuez and Yennie de la Madrid.
The event was run in support of hurricane survivors living in informal settlements outside the capital of Pinar del Rio. 7 at-risk families were given financial aid to rebuild their homes.
TIMBA VIVA

A project born in collaboration with Gabriela Salgado - we teamed up with community doctors and nurses, Abel González, Osnel Santana, and Caridad Romero, who created a database of community needs in the neighbourhood of La Timba.
This database allowed us to send targeted supplies to tackle the most prevalent diseases in the community (Covid-10, Hypertension, Diabetes, Bronchial Asthma, and Neoplasia).
DANZA CUQUITA

Cuquita is a dancer and musician who has dedicated her life to running Music & Dance Therapy classes for children and young adults with Down’s Syndrome. Her classes allow participants to improve their motor, cognitive, social skills, and overall wellbeing.
Through generous donations, we were able to send school supplies, in addition to specific medication requested by each child’s caregiver.
2019 TORNADO

Sponsorship of 6 families impacted by a deadly tornado in Luyanó, Havana, 2019. The 6 families were conscientiously selected in consultation with neighbours, to determine which were most at-risk.
Through fundraising, we were able to raise over £3000, which was distributed directly in cash to each family by Julio César Paz (my cousin), who was on-the-ground clearing up debris.
